Concrete blocks - Advice on best cutting method

Y, but half the price of a stihl petrol cutter and does pretty much the same job. I have the slightly earlier model and its really handy if you have a lot of cutting to do.

We do a lot of cutting. A 9" angle grinder armed with a decent blade will do the job adequately. Granted, there are advantages to having a 12" cutter especially when cutting out wall openings. However, the reason site boys opt for a Stihl is the fact they are NOT corded. Kind of wondering where your corded fella would fit in...?
 
Just a quick update. I used a hammer and bolster to cut a few blocks yesterday and all went well. Taking a little longer than I first thought but I haven't broken one yet. I will need a grinder for some though as I need to cut a notch section (see below):

I have the cheaper Evo 12” disc cutter, without the water feed. Cost me £99 a few years ago, but can often be bought on offer now for £130.

As a diy tool, it’s the best of all worlds. Dusty yes, but I’ve cut all the openings and all the blocks on my build with it.

Blades have really good longevity and you can get through a whole skin with it. It really is very capable.
 
Having had success with the hammer and bolster I now realise I need cut a lot more blocks and also slithers too so I think I may need a angle grinder/disc cutter. I've had a look at the evolution disc cutter above and I also saw that people were mentioning 9inch cutters from Makita and Dewalt. I will be cutting 140mm dense concrete block and also in the future I will need to cut Indian sandstone paving slabs too.

Would I be best to go for the cheaper Makita/Dewalt grinders with a diamond blade or just go for the evolution 300mm?

Any advice appreciated.

Having used a grinder for ages, but recently borrowed a petrol Stihl saw, I'd always use the Stihl saw now.

It seems to spin a bit slower, the water suppression is great and far safer as you can see, and it cuts through a 4" block in 1 go.

Hiring one for a day isn't too expensive, but they do need refuelling quite a bit... tiny tanks, and 2 stroke.
