Standing on a ladder to connect a soil pipe elbow isn’t the same as trying safely balance on a ladder to core drill through a brick wall that’s probably been re-barred with adamantium!
Most hire shops aren’t open right now. I’ll persevere.

I‘ve not been on site today, but thinking about it, and as daft as it might seem to some, I’ve left the 8mm pilot bit in. Some say you are supposed to take it out once the core has actually bitten in. If this is the ‘best practice’ then maybe the 8mm bit is snagging on a pebble (or whatever) in the brick and without the hammer action allowed then it simply won’t progress.
I shall remove it and see if I care any better.
oh, when I drilled the 52mm waste hole I didn’t get any blowout at all. The outside has been rendered with some thermal pebbledash kind of stuff.

Don't buy that DeWalt, I've got one and it's crap - Google "red light flashing", which means it needs a new motor, mine burnt out after about 10 holes, it was repaired under warranty but the guy at the repair agents said it's a common problem (when I put it down on his counter he said straight away " red light flashing, needs new motor"). Now it's out if warranty and the clutch has failed on 2nd gear (after about 20 holes), a new one is over £50 and I believe needs special tools to replace!
I wish I'd got a used Makita 8406 of eBay but they were going for silly money for really old ones.
Back to your job, definitely take the drill bit out! Also if there's only a bit of brick left then carefully chain drill it from your ladder and as mentioned make good with a collar.

Unless its a typo or I've missed something but Op says they are 230mm through the wall so must have removed part of the core or the bit would have bottomed out by that stage.
A pilot drill is a waste of time IMO, after all who drills a hole in masonry in non hammer mode which is whats required for diamond core drilling?...If one needs to use a pilot bit to help centralised the core then one should whack a pilot hole right through first in sds or hammer mode or risk the core bit not advancing by the pilot struggling to make progress.

Yes, I actually agree with this. So I shall remove the pilot bit and carry on. I have a feeling I’ll make progress this time.
Thanks for the advice on the DeWalt cdbe, I won’t buy a new drill at all now. As once this soil pipe has been cored I’ll not need any more holes.

Can't disagree with you there - using s large core whilst up a ladder is a potentisl recipe for disaster.
You were fortunate not to get blow out, but it is one thing a tradesman working on someone else's property always needs to consider. It does happen

So back on site. I used the 8mm pilot bit on its own to hammer drill through, which was only about 30mm or so. Then I removed it and continued with the core bit on its own.
It’s very slightly better, going approx 1mm every 2min(?) which sucks.
The pics probably don’t show much that could help but there ya go.
still reckon I have about 50mm to go.
edit; tempted to go to the local hardware shop round the corner and get a cheap core bit for this last 50mm or so, but I refuse to believe that this erbauer set is only good for ONE hole and that’s it. They had good reviews.

Why don't you follow the advice and stitch drill the last 50mm.
It will be much easier and less frustrating than lose more days on this hole.
