France. Why do you think this is happening?

You're deluded if you think le pen is going to stop them coming into the uk. She will encourage more of them.
If that happens, that will just speed up the change of the political landscape in this country like it has in France.

Don’t worry, the tide is turning
Quit reading The Wail boyo, and please don't repeat their tired, gammon baiting soundbites.

A right wing populist brexiteer government couldn't stop them. Le Penn? Lol. She'll just wave them all across, smiling as the go.

Quit reading The Wail boyo
I don’t need to read anything to come to that conclusion boyo. It’s common sense and a knowledge of human behaviour, both of which you are showing a distinct lack of.

Disaffected Tories with their own party's political faliures will flock to Reform and blame everything on Immigrants rather than the failure of Bre*it. Classic right wang thinking.

You and your lily livered liberal wishy washy ilk have gone too far letting every f’cker into their countries are the cause of this
Boat immigration is a tiny fraction of the overall numbers. You need to get things into perspective.

And it's the Tories who have allowed it to happen, no one else.

Other immigrants apply and are allowed in for a reason and generally, contribute to the country.

Imagine having a similar process for everyone. One that would manage the numbers...

The majority of boat people who have their cases looked at are allowed to stay, because they also have a reason.

Actually they geared up for it. Visas. Some due to need and attractive aspects such as foreign university students who pay higher fees than our own do. Also we could poach some of those after they are qualified, Then companies might want to bring them in - experienced people.

So requirements for skilled worker visas have changed. How - need to poke around here. Depends on the job area so sections other than this one need looking at

Looks like they have changed the dependants aspect yet again / study visas are different. Those very probably are. There are various forecasts on what this will do to numbers. I suspect the biggest effect will be those that come to study. The skilled higher flier can come but health area has different requirements.

Which will stir up more wars in the middle and far east like bliar and bush did, and create even more migration. Even if we cold completely stop migration the country would still be a post brexhit economic failure, all the more so without foreign workers.

I don't understand why people don't want such a system.

Those avoiding it would be easy obvious targets for attention. Those abiding by it could be (government interest) easily controlled numbers

blame everything on Immigrants
According to a French pundit that has been going on in France for a number of years. Including some rich bloke buying TV and radio stations. LOL and here we have a gov that would like to get shut of C4 and prevent the BBC from being what it is. The last one being backed by some of the population.

Behind this is the countries general malaise just like here. Macron has to change retirement age. People complain that they can no longer afford to live in Paris. These caused near riots. They have had inflation but not as bad as ours. It peaked at ~6% running up to 2023 and then started to fall. ~2% now. In the EU no BofE but their central bank instead. As Greece found countries have to follow their lead even with an extreme lefty in control. The right+ will find the same.

It's interesting that there are some decent arguments that we would have been better off if we had switched to the euro.

Seems the French right+ are promising cheaper electricity and cuts in fuel duty. All I heard anyway.

Do you have any links for the argument to adopt the Euro?
I recall the debate at the time and wondered how much stronger the EU could've been if the UK had added it's economic power to France and Germany.
