Hanging pics etc on plasterboard walls

What’s behind the plasterboard ? Hollow or dot and dab? If latter then disregard all above comments .
I'll need to find out and ask the builders. Or is there a way of telling?
 
If on the outside walls, probably dot and dab with blocks behind, so anything heavy can go into the blocks.

When you say outside walls I take it that you're referring to sides inside the house as opposed to behind?

How do we know where exactly the blocks are placed behind the walls?

The plasterboard is about 12-15mm thick and there'll be a small gap, then block wall. So long as you use a long plug it will go into something solid (the mortar should be solid enough too). The block might crumble a bit so use plugs/screws long enough to penetrate 5cm or so in, ideally more than one screw too.

Disregard as in no need for hollow anchor screws and setting tool? and to use raw plugs instead?
