Have You Ever Heard This Before?

My daughter bought a Hyundai i10

My independent garage warned me about the costs of spares ....................... lets hope its bullet proof and she doesn't bend it!

somethings got to finance the fancy carpet in the showroom and the pretty lady at the desk

I'm looking fir a Milwaukee pack out kit.

Got a Quote and part numbers from ITS. Just did a spreadsheet . With shopping from 4 different suppliers I get the kit I want for £613.53

That's £106.37 saving.

I had time on my hands so it's worth the effort.

I meant to find the part number.
Well, I have the part number off the car. But the parts guy I spoke to did not want me to give him the part number but instead to describe the part.

The price was so high, I wanted to double check the number to see if he had the right part
But he would not give it to me.

But seriously, have you ever come across this before? Withholding part numbers?
Yes. For the fairly obvious reason that they're expensive from the stealerships and you'll just go bash it straight into ebay and buy it cheaper

You can however read the number off the part you have and bash that into eBay and, probably, buy a second hand part for what you'd consider a reasonable price..

I rang 4 dealers that answered the bloody phone....

3 of them had no issues with the part number.

Only one was odd about it.

But seriously, have you ever come across this before? Withholding part numbers?
Yes.

It happens a lot. I sort of understand it a bit .

They spend time and effort looking up the info and identifying the part, but they don't want me to use the part number to find it elsewhere.

Some dealers will give info, some won't.

Have both of you fully read my post?

You do realise the call started as an enquiry about the price of a part?

It was only when I got told they don't give out part numbers (which I wanted so I could check it was the right part) that I made the sarcastic quip about that's how the world works.

To be perfectly honest, I could not believe that one parking sensor could be that much, that why I wanted to cross check the part number.

But seriously, have you ever come across this before? Withholding part numbers?
I walked into VW a few years ago.
I asked the price of a bracket which I knew was unique to the b5 passat, different from b5.5.
The bloke started by taking the number plate which I gave to him.
I told him I had the part number and he refused to look at it, apparently he knew what he was doing.
I also told him to make sure it was the b5 part I needed, not the b5.5.
His reply: "They're all the same".
I asked the part number he was ordering and he said they don't give them out.
I told him they weren't all the same and he said that if it was the wrong part he would get me a free service.
Part ordered, 2 days later I go to collect and it's the wrong part.
I showed him the etka printout with the correct part number.
He re-orders and I remind him of the free service promise.
He laughed at me.
Then he stopped laughing when I went to the main desk, spoke to the manager and told him they owed me a free service.
The manager went ballistic, went up to him and said (I quote): "I told you to stop betting free services. This one will come out of your payslip".
The only time I didn't service my passat myself :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
R.I.P. my baby. Daddy will avenge you one day...:cry::cry:

What led to your car's demise?
The emperor's tax, ULEZ.
Apparently, keeping a car for 3 decades is not green, but changing it every 3 years is very good for the planet.
His latest boll@x is that if you scrap your car, the midget sends it to Ukraine, so he moves the pollution to a different part of the world.
A total scam.
