Thanks noseall. the builder has said the machine access will be fine but has not mentioned what kind of machine. he has measured it though.
 
Diggers not excavators, lorries not trucks, settees not sofas, dinner (not lunch) at dinner time and tea (not dinner) at tea time, red sauce not ketchup and cheese cobs not anything else, if you please.

2.1m for a cherry tree????? It must be very close to the extension and you must be on highly shrinkable clay! Sounds dubious to me.
 
If the tree causes an issue down the line the SE is paying for it. If it doesn't, you are paying for the work to ensure that. Guess which side of caution they will err on!
A good SE and designer can save you more than their fee in these cases

Apart from the cob bit, ( should read, Barm, Woody is spot on )
 
You can check the depth for certain trees on the nhbc foundation depth app if you want to check the depth they have designed for.
