As far as I know, Tommy Robinson was detained because he was travelling on an Irish passport.
This may have caused an error by the immigration authorities.
One passport said his name was Stephen Lennon and that he was an Irish citizen born in Ireland.
His other Passport has a different name and a different nationality.
He may have been using the Irish passport to try to avoid his criminal records showing up on the immigration authorities computers.
As his Irish passport appears legit ,the authorities probably couldn't detain him once the mix up was sorted out.
He isn't nicknamed Tommy ten names for nothing.
