Inheritance tax ...

Which of the following things can you not do?
- manage a diary.
- keep a log of customers and time
- Write receipts.
- collect money for the work done (at the time you do it)
- advertise for your services
- keep a log of your costs.
- call HMRC and tell them how much you earned and how much you have in costs.

That is all easy for you. I would struggle with most of those. Think of a stereotypical chaotic boffin type.

Do you think all carers can do all that?

If so what i don't understand is why anybody is on minimum or low wages.

It's so simple

- training
- loss of employee benefits
- no transport provided

Plus organising their insurances and training and certifications etc.
I'm self employed.

I spend hours and hours (unpaid) doing all the essential background stuff. Accounts . Sorting tax. Paying bills. Ordering stuff. Invoicing. Arranging insurance, training, re testing, licences etc etc.

Thats not unpaid it should be part of your quote / estimate/ renumeration policy. There is no such thing as free time if you are self-employed.

There is also an old proverb give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime' MBK is of the teaching approach.

Oh. Do I put a line on each invoice saying. Background work £x.

Or is it part of my overheads? That's a cost not an income.

More fool you, get a better paid job where that isn't required. There are seemingly plenty out there.
