Internet in my FARADAY CAGE !!!

My IT guy at work has recommended one of these MESH systems. Not cheap for what they are but it would save me the labour of running a cable all the way down there

Anyone got any experience of them. I suppose I coud just buy them from amazon and return them it they are not successful in penetrating my fraraday cage. Weird thing is that the underfloor heating which is wifi controlled connects the booster in the main house no problems and I can interogate anywhere in the house. Grrrrrr
 
I don't know the details, someone else will, but on my router I can select between two alternative WiFi frequency ranges. If your computer supports both, try switching from one to the other, given that your underfloor heating communication works.
 
I've got a BT whole home mesh wifi setup and find its really good. Guides you through the setup no problems and can use any existing cat5 runs you have to extend, or just wireless between units. A unit in a back window covers the back garden to around 20m into my shed.

That will be the older 2.4Ghz wifi and the newer 5Ghz. Everything which has wifi supports the 2.4, but not always the 5. 2.4 has longer range, but the 5 is somewhat faster and more reliable at short range.

I wonder if the heating communication might be be being helped by the pipework?
 
Another vote for the poweline adaptor.

If you get a top branded model and the better one they offer the speeds increase.

I have one in my shed 100 odd feet away from the house, I just bought a cheap £20 devolo 500 unit to see if it worked, my max speed is 35mb, though I only ever see 25mb at the main router, and in the shed I get 20mb.

The best ones to get are either, tp-link, Netgear avoid devolo their support is rubbish and the instructions worse and to top it off the app doesn't work 90% of the time.

Avoid the cheap rubbish found on Amazon and eBay etc.

This may not be the best solution but as it's cheap it may be worth a try.

I bought a pair of BT adaptors, as did a friend at the same time. Friends did not connect at all. I only bought mine to have in the drawer should I find a temporary need for them, so until recently I had only conducted a quick functional test on them and they seemed OK, across one room.

When I came actually need to use them, it was over a greater distance, from house to detached garage and zilch. I worked back to the house room by room, until I found they would only work intermittently in the next room to the master and no further. I'm not entirely blaming the powerline adaptors, because I suspect the issue might be the mains filters in all the electronic equipment in the place.

I have since set up a wifi repeater to solve the issue and that works absolutely fine.
 
Plumped for the mid range BT Mesh system. £200 from Amazon.

it works well. Saved me running the cable and I get 20mbps download speed in there which is enough for what I need.
 
This is how i woudl do it:
fit a POE wifi bridge to the outside of your man cave (like this: https://www.ui.com/airmax/nanostation-ac/) and conectit to a POE switch with a wifi Access point on the inside.
link the bridge to you home access point and you will have internet in your man cave.
try and stick to the 5 GHz frequencies if you are in a built up area.

I ending up just running a cat 6 cable down to my garden office, 50 metres from router in house.

I now get rock solid 40mb speeds.

I had a power line to get upstairs, drove me up the wall, caused interference on radio alarm and tend to drop out. That was a top of range powerline jobby
