Is this Japanese knotweed ? Not sure what it is ?

I have no idea what it is, however, from what I have read over the last year or two suggests that Japanese knot wood is not quite as bad as the initial press stories suggested- it cannot, for example, force its way through concrete- granted if there a sizable crack, the root might grow through the cavity..
 
If you google it and select images you will see what the leaves look like, also the stems. Pretty smooth and a point.

It's a bit of a pig to kill. I got rid of some years ago using a double dose of SBK rather late in summer and plenty of it. It probably worked well as the plant draws stuff back down as it dies off for the winter. These days SBK isn't what it used to be - still useful though.
 
its hard to identify it as the photos are too far back

I dont think its ground elder as they have serrated edges to the leaves

It could be Japanese knotweed, the leaves are quite similar, a close up of the stems might give a better idea

It could also be Himalayan Balsam although that has more slender leaves usually
 
Knotweed usually tries to go taller quicker than that, try rubbing the leaves, it does have the look of the mint family.
