Is this laptop OK?

If you hurry you will catch me up, Im going round the same circles.
According to the link above it can be taken out of S mode and changed to home or pro but it cannot be put back in S mode again.

So it would probably be fine on the Windows front. (unless you want to use 64 bit programs in 64 bit mode.)
Storage however is another matter.
Also 4gb ram is low these days.

Some say - Ensure the machine is upgradable at least in terms of ram and media storage (HDD / SSD) - buy the lowest spec in those departments, then upgrade buying better parts from other than Dell.
This does it -
unfortunately video is from 2017 so may not reflect the mc in question. Also, do scan through comments sometimes there are nuggets of info included.

Unfortunately thats your warranty out of the window if you open it.

Always consequences, sometimes a little risk taking, give the thing a good burn in, then on satisfactory conclusion - update - could be fruitful. For sure Dell will charge more than the cost of decent upgrades elsewhere.

TBH your not getting much different apart from paying more and getting a 1TB hard drive instead of an SSD - it will be slower.
You could go for the first one, take it out of S mode if you want to install non MS programs and if you find your running out of drive space, upgrade the SSD to a 500gb one for £50 or a 1TB for £100 at a later date (when the warranty has expired)
