I'm a fan of PIR seconds for value and performance but would be the first to admit that wool gives a better result in some locations because it can fill gaps and irregular shapes much better. Two part spray foam is available, though expensive, for awkward spots that would benefit from PIR's better performance eg if they're particularly wind-loaded or narrow
Can't give an accurate price for just the MVHR unit because I ordered it at the same time as all the kit, pipes, plenums, cowls etc to install but the unit, two 14 port distrib boxes, 17 plenums and outlets, 300m of flexi duct and 24m of fixed duct and all the associated tapes, glues, bends, etc was £3.5k, 8h ears ago. That price might also have included the central vacuum system and all its associated pipework - it's on the packing list but not on page 1 of the invoice..
