Finally finished the DIY so it's time to crack on with my MK2 Golf!.

Owned her for 18 years, started life as a 16v (k-jet), over the years I converted it to EFI and bolted a G60 supercharger to it (sounds simple!).

Anyway she's been stood for 10 years so time for a full strip down and refurb, engine out, new brake lines, crossmembers etc repainted, new steering rack, belts etc.

Made a start on Sunday (was baking hot!).

Keep the pics coming, Keith! How are you going to get fresh air into the inter cooler.....bonnet scoop, maybe?

Is that flaky underseal and rust on the NSF A pillar under the wing?

I am mulling over a front mount IC or a scoop (bought one years ago), think the scoop may ruin the lines though?.

I had Aquamist water injection as well which could be going back on, had mutiple trackdays at Donning with no issues with WI fitted!..

Picture make it look worse than it is, any spots that look iffy will be getting brushed back to bare metal and inspected!.

Borrowed a ramp to fit AN-6 braided fuel lines a while back and had a good poke about, shes very solid still!.

I think a front mounted inter cooler would be best, if there's room to get it in.....
Not convinced about water injection though, it just hasn't caught on - wet steam was another one.
I can't comment about either , but lowering the temperature of the induction could possibly increase the oxygen content.

Looks in great nick underside.....I used to do quite a few rear subframe bushes years ago, and used those coloured poly things to good effect.

It's got Powerflex Poly bushings throughout (rear beam, wishbones etc), they all look good as new and will go again!. The Neuspeed ARBs have rose joints that look well past their best though, probably going to be hard to find replacements!.

I have used water injection on my GTO Twin Turbo to good effect, had the ability to log the factory ECU "Knock Sum" and was able to push more timing and boost with water on.

Gone for a manual steering rack as well, will be a weekend toy and the PAS setup islong past it's best..

Yep and the Harrier Jump Jet, only way it can do vertical takeoff without destroying the turbine engines iirc.

Well proven in rally cars as well until they banned it (unfair imho as it's not an expensive technology).

A fuel injected Messerschmitt fighter. .....cannon which could fire through the nose spinner too.
My recently deceased father (96, flight sergeant) reckoned that his aircraft always flew better in damp conditions, I always put that down to denser air having more oxygen.

Nice car, love seeing them brought back to life.
I used to own a 1991 16 valver and knew someone that had an original G60, a car I would have loved to own if it were rhd.
 
Nice one Keith!!! That no ordinary G60 is it? It's a 16v G60!!

I have a Mk2 Golf too, it's a K-reg with an R32 engine in it, it will get finished when I retire :LOL::LOL:(y)
 
Are you sure about deleting PAS? It's going to be a pig at low speeds without.
