Monkeys closely resemble human beings, these people maybe see them as substitutes for real humans.

I believe a 'monkey' was actually elected as a mayor in Hartlepool once...

Their other moniker ('northern monkeys') is therefore justly deserved!

I think they hanged the danged monkey because they needed a loophole in order to claim the shipwreck as a prize.
