Newly Arrived? Don't Try It On In Scotland!

Are they both people taking law into their own hands ...yes or no ?
Yes.

But there are differences that most level-headed people would accept.

For example, if I'm walking along and I see someone battering an old granny with no sign of any police, might I intervene? Yes.

If I see someone get on a bus, sit down and not pay, might I intervene? No.

There are obvious differences in situations.

A totally different scenario...

All your post does is show your racist attitude and vigilante approval...

Which is by the way against the law on both counts

So do you believe people should get away with assault when there is no threat?

fare evasion is a crime so...

A person may use such force as is reasonable in the circumstances in the prevention of crime, or in effecting or assisting in the lawful arrest of offenders or suspected offenders or of persons unlawfully at large.

Yes.

Beating up an old granny, is an indictable offence, so the citizen has both power to intervene, use reasonable force and make a lawful arrest.
the above isn't, but its still illegal, giving the skinny bloke, a potential defence for his actions - preventing a crime.

You might ? intervene with the granny what would stop you ? And as for the bus he has clearly walked past the protesting driver thinking fek him and a passenger who has paid has thought no fek you . You are off

Oh for goodness sake.

Goodbye ...

What can't you answer under what circumstances you would help the granny ?
It's not a case of can't answer, it's a case of knowing the posts will go round and round and round. Some on here seem to love that ... I don't ;)

After the Scots handled the situation when they tried to blow up Glasgow Airport few years back, it showed that they won't put up with this nonsense. This video reinforces my opinion. It also reinforces the freeloading attitude of 'arrivals'.

Fare dodging isn't only a problem in Scotland.

You need to be careful about intervening .
Years ago I was on my way home from the pub, when I saw a man shouting at a woman , the man was pushing the woman , the woman was telling the man to f***off.
I walked over and told the bloke to leave the woman alone, the next thing I knew the pair of them started on me.
I pushed the bloke over a hedge, the woman was the worst, she kept trying to hit me with her shoe, obviously because she was a woman I couldn't restrain her as she would probably accuse me assault or something.
After that I vowed never to intervene again in any similar situation.

Prime example of why the police didn't used to want to get involved in domestics. They would turn up and suddenly the warring couple would forget their differences and turn on the officers. You can't help some people!
