Notable Obituaries.

Oh cock that's sad. I thank him for my Zx81 and 16k ram pack and endless days spent typing in reams of code for it to end in a syntax error. But you shaped my life and ambitions. RIP buddy.

Aw man. This means we are gonna have to wait another 10 years for him to die again... I guess he had 'just one more thing' to do before he's finally gone

Like festive, I slaved over my ZX81 and like festive, would curse the ill-fitting RAM pack.
It was crude, it was basic (forgive the pun...), but it was exciting and ground-breaking to think that we were a part of this fledgling home computer generation.

I personally think it quite touching he died at 81.

The ZX80 was released in 1980.
The ZX81 was released in 1981.
The Spec was released in 1982.

Of course, he also developed digital calculators (1973 and 1974), a digital watch (1975) and the C5 (1985).

One of my favourite memories was the Sinclair Micro FM radio kit that I built, soon discovered that it could be used to transmit speech using the thin plastic back as the micro-phone. It was a direct conversion receiver and thus the local oscillator was the same as the carrier frequency being received, The back panel capacitively affected the unscreened local oscillator coil. Hence the local oscillator was modulated if the panel vibrated, Without screening the local oscillator radiated a milliwatt or two of modulated RF signal. Had screening been added the Micro FM would have been a few pence more expensive but a much better item ( unless one was needing a small low cost walkie talkie )

Both sets of supporters will honour him today before Chelsea hammer his first love.

RIP Jimmy

The striker ! Saw him play twice in the flesh, once at 'the Lane' with 54000 others we saw him score twice.
Second time we were at Manchester saw him play against the City, he score twice - again, it was his debut for 'The Hammers'... That wrapped it up for top flight soccer, he scored in every debut.
Damn good value Jimmy.
