Plastic welding with glue gun

You might be thinking of a thermosetting plastic there foxhole; they do not respond well to repair attempts using heat. Thermosoftening plastics can be repaired by melting

I have a cracked wheely bin.
Where is it cracked? It's common for them to split down the corners because the bin lorry bangs it really hard as a deliberate mechanical action to shake the rubbish out

If it's a long side split I'd be leaning on the council to replace it

For someone with a track record on opinion, debate and suchlike, I'm surprised some poor clerk in the refuse dept is not getting an ear-bending and a new bin on the way.

I'd go with FMT's idea plus glue
