I too think there are many many songs and you can't just pick one. Even one from each decade would hard.

But if I had to choose just one song from each decade, mine would be:

1950's The Chordettes, Mr Sandman

1960's The Mamas and Papas, California Dreamin'.

1970's Bill Withers, Lovely Day

1980's Fiction Factory, Feels like Heaven

1990's Tasmin Archer, Sleeping Satellites

2000's Owl City, Fireflies

2010's Passenger, Let Her Go

1950's The Chordettes, Mr Sandman (don't know it)

1960's The Mamas and Papas, California Dreamin'. (a classic)

1970's Bill Withers, Lovely Day (hmm)

1980's Fiction Factory, Feels like Heaven (wow a rare 'un but a good 'un)

1990's Tasmin Archer, Sleeping Satellites (Meh)

2000's Owl City, Fireflies (guilty pleasure, I like it)

2010's Passenger, Let Her Go (don't know it)

Completely subjective of course, if you like then it's a thumbs up from me.

Glen Campbell never really cared for much of his music

But he was one hell. Of a guitar player some thing I only found out recently

N.S.U. - Cream
Lucky Man - E.L.P.
Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, Ld Zep.

Christmas song - "I beleive in Father Christmas" - Greg Lake

Funny how, when people suggest songs or artists, you recall just how good some of them were.

Glen Campbell ; I always liked Wichita Lineman

The Verve ; Lucky Man

The Stone Roses ; Made of Stone

Greg Lake ; I believe in Father Christmas

Future Sound of London ; Papua New Guinea

In short, I have many much - loved songs, but no out and out favourite.

Never paid much attention to the guy when he was alive, but really George, you checked out on us? What a dreadful waste.

Hmm, some reason the link doesn't seem to wanna work, but the track is time, by GM.

How relevant, scary and poignant is that?

I still have the first ELP LP, Lucky man was my mates favourite, he always asked for it if we were having a record session, we are both in our 60s now and meet up regularly

Hard to know where to start, but this god will do:
