i live in a hard water area and we get a lot of lime bloom on new walls, worst in the first dry spring when it is drying out, and worse if the wall has got very wet during build. Then it weathers away.
sometimes there is a bit more in the second spring, once the wet weather is mostly over.
IME brick acid is not needed, but opinions may vary.
the acid is needed for cement mortar splashes and smears, which are more durable than lime bloom.
