Replacing old fireplace hearth tiles with floorboards

I'm finishing up ripping up the old floorboards and will be replacing them with new ones. In the corner of the room, there was an old fireplace and you can see from this image, the far joist has been cut off. This means there is a 20cm gap on the edge where floorboards will not be supported.
To recap: 22mm square-edged boards are going down first, then 18mm solid oak hidden screwed on top.
I can strengthen the nearest joist with additional timber on both sides to reduce that gap but wondered what people's thoughts are about the absolute corner? Will that flooring be strong enough to hold weight on top of it? Or should I consider screwing something into the brick in the actual corner to support a new joist section?
