There’s plenty of losses in transmission and distribution. You can hear substations buzzing, you can feel their warmth. Overhead lines run warm. Anything warm or buzzing is “wasting” energy. It’s part and parcel though.

A 50m sub main sized correctly won’t be a worry at all.
