Should billionaires and multinationals pay fair tax?

I've just been round to my 70 year old tenant and booted her out. I've advised her the PRS serves no good purposes whatsoever and she'll need to find alternative accommodation.

I think the local council list is down to a waiting time of 10-11 years or so ...

No you haven't: you're just posting lies.
Again.

Why don't you just change your username to Jackanory?
Or to Brian Cant? ;-)

Who said it should fall overnight, or for ever.

Only you.

Houses still sold during the last time prices fell substantially. Everybody knows they will keep up with inflation at least. And people still need to live somewhere. Mortgages were still available.

Prices can go up and down you understand? You do understand?

Shelter have done research and found mass building of council houses is the only solution

Building for our future: a vision for social housing recommends the government invests in a major 20-year housebuilding programme, which would offer a social home to millions who fail to qualify under the current system. It includes:

  • 1.27 million homes for those in greatest housing need – homeless households, those living with a disability or long-term illness, or living in very poor conditions.
  • 1.17 million homes for ‘trapped renters’ - younger families who cannot afford to buy and face a lifetime in expensive and insecure private renting.
  • 690,000 homes for older private renters – people over 55 struggling with high housing costs and insecurity beyond retirement.

Funny how you demand rigour from those whose posts you attempt to dissect, yet post your own bullc@rp with gay abandon....... (y)
Rigour? its hardly dragons den - asking who will build them and who will want to buy them?

Sounds like a plan. The government has billions to play with. They can even afford to gift it to Tory chums in return for tons of unusable tat.

Correct it was all useless tat and not needed and only done to be seen to be doing something. All done to prevent the over 80s dieing 2 months earlier then they would of done without catching a cold . Glad we agree on something (y)

This post makes little sense.

It can be argued food is a basic human right. So by your logic, no food manufacturer and/or retailer should profit from their endeavors?
Not my logic at fault, your blinkers.

If I provide food I have to do something like farming. As a landlord I don't have to do anything.

I have a HMO, with an agent to maintain it, who also sets and chases the rents. The demand is ridiculous because of where it is. It clears me a profit above inflation and the value of the place is going up (though at the moment no hugely). You might say that's good business. The agent is squeezing all they can in rents - I get more as a result - and the occupiers are finding it expensive but they' seem to have little choice.
So I'm making money from people living in conditions which are nicely clean, secure and maintained, but not what I'd choose for myself. I'm doing no work at all.
I don't actually know what Marx would have said, but I think it would be better if the council owned it, and places like it. They don't seem to have money to buy things like that though.
