Signs of the Rwanda threat working?

With applicants living in tents outside the office. I wouldn't call them good at looking after illegal immigrants.

They have so few, because it's 10 times further from France, by boat and its a horrible nasty crossing with pretty much everything bar sea monsters to deal with.

There isn't much demand for Human rights legal specialists in Ireland either. That will probably change.

No, the question is WHY.

Why can't we be as good as they are ?
Because we have a govt that doesn’t want to solve it.

Making a crisis out of asylum seekers allows them to ramp up hatred of foreigners whilst their mates get lovely big juicy contracts out of dealing with asylum seekers

dangerous route + arrival after Jun-22, but I think its actually 1-jan-22 now.

Thanks, that's helped me find the rule now. So, anyone who came to the UK legally, such as on a work, dependent, or student visa, can still apply for asylum here and there will be no possibility of them being sent to Rwanda.

The purpose of the MEDP arrangement is to provide a mechanism for the relocation of any individual who arrived in the UK through dangerous, illegal and unnecessary methods since 1 January 2022 to the Republic of Rwanda, where they will have their claim for protection considered.

I think the thought behind deportation to Rwanda is so that people think again about risking there lives crossing the channel, and fueling those profiting from desperate people.

I don't know if this has been posted but it seems they have lost track of ~ 1/2 of the 5,000 or so that are set to go to Rwanda. They will be found is the gov reply.

That doesn't look good. But symbolically, there's still enough for the first plane load.

Hey @Notch7 , do you think the asylum seekers should be made to stop where they are when they reach the UK and not travel further because they are in a safe country?
Looks like Notch doesn’t have an opinion on this. Strange.

If the Conservatives actually cared about sorting out the problem, you gotta ask your self why the number of people being removed and returned has dropped 80% during the last 14 years compared to pre Isis administrations
