Some cheap Chinesey FCUs in the 90s were SP.
There is no maths involved. Cable ratings are tabulated. Fuse ratings are on the fuse.The comment someone made about the fuse size depending on the cable size and all that is all very well if you can do the maths, but your theory about the fuse being just over the current rating of the mat is absolutely fine.
What an idiot! 13a sockets don’t need an upstream FCU and isolation can be achieved by pulling the plug.Found this on another forum:
