It includes those who are in work as well - through child benefit and those who are retired as well - state pension.

Mottie's a pensioner.

He thinks his bank account should be monitored by the government.

Perhaps Capita will do it for them.

Or Fujitsu. They did the Post Office. Maybe pensioners will be slung in jail.

No problem

There will be a new government by the end of this year ??

So said legislation can be over turned ??

The Tories are pushing through as much wild legislation they can to create wedge issues - you see Labour are against trying to find benefit cheats! - This is only about getting those pesky benefit cheats - it's not because it includes those who are in work and those who are retired.

They government cannot grow the economy so need to keep on creating enemies - they can't keep using the EU excuse as we left so now its low level people on benefits - but remember not the rich ones.

They need a new enemy to rail against.

Are they claiming means tested benefits as well? The bastards!

It includes state pension and child benefit.

Are you a grandad? Then your children will have their banks monitored even if they have done nothing wrong.

If you cannot see the intrusion and control in that you truly are lost if you put your love for party before your kids.

Of course poor people are means tested.

Bra Baronesses with a network of offshore accounts are not means tested.

Before an investigation required prior sucpicion now your bank account will be monitored for trigger events - a foreign transaction, a large transaction, cash deposits etc.

Once you start down this path it will just grow and grow what they will want to look into - you donated to a cause that is fighting the building of new homes on green belt land, you donated to a charity fighting sewage spills etc

I just cannot fathom how the squad on here lead by Mottie just think they won't come after me.

Have they not learned any lessons from the past and what the Nazis did?

I didn't speak out until it was too late and they finally came for me.

I think anyone receiving a means tested benefit should have their bank accounts and savings open to scrutiny. Some benefits including the state pension are not means tested though so as long as they are not receiving any other means tested top ups to that (pension credit?), there will be no need for checks on state pensioners.
As pointed out below

Those ‘linked’ to claimants are liable to having their accounts searched too, according to Georgia Gilholy of Conservative Home (no, really!) “Section 3(a) states that this includes anyone “linked” to the receipt of a benefit. Although Section 2(6) seems to imply that “linked” means the same person claiming said benefit, the term remains vaguely defined, encompassing not only the benefit recipient but also others such as ex-partners, cohabitants, children, or landlords.

State pensions do not fall under the umbrella of government benefits, though they are included for tax assessments.

One possible aim of this is to precipitate the ending of state pension or making it means tested.

Not growing the economy has massive repercussions.

Well done Tory voters you just robbed your kids of their future - your kids will most likey work until they die and retirement will only be exclusive for the rich - back to the Victorian era.

Plenty of vacancies for chimney-sweep boys.

Here we go again, project fear/hope from the Tory haters. I’m getting flashbacks of no EHIC, international driving licence needed, extra insurance to drive in the EU needed, no mobile roaming anymore……

Does this seem familiar to anyone else or is it just me?
