Some good news on the Headlines right now.

EU countries can use their industries to weather a recession and recover. We produce very little so don't have an engine of growth to fire up. Even relying on the Square Mile, lots of big companies are now delisting on London Stock Exchange and heading Stateside.

All the while, we're battling Brexit self-inflicted damage.

Yeah it’s countries that didn’t vote to increase trade barriers with its biggest and closest trade partner.
Like Japan?
- who also slipped into recession.
Germany next. Hey, let’s call it, I don’t know, a 'world recession'? Does that sound about right?
Germany has bee f**d for a while. Diesel based automotive giant losing market share on a massive scale.

So it's ok if we are in recession because other countries aren't doing so well either?

I think we should be aiming for better than that.

Rachel just point out that gdp per capita has been falling all of last year. Actually similar aspects have been going on for a long time. The only fix for this is investment within the UK.

It seems there will be a tax cut in the next budget. An analyst pointed out that given public services and similar this will be unsustainable. ;) Not hard to understand the point she was making. She also pointed out that this will be likely to make Labours aims more difficult. The B of E have already mentioned that putting too much money back into the economy this way could cause them to extend controls.

More religion - what has that got to do with recession? Most of the EU have just about held that off. We haven't and there are several other economic metrics were we are doing even worse.

So you do the usual. Find a link that suites your view but is essentially irrelevant to the general topic of this thread.

You should go in to politics - thats the sort of sound bite that a politician comes out with in opposition, when he doesn't have a strategy. Tell me I'm wrong, tell me you have some ideas to achieve the aim?

No I have knowledge of DACH having run businesses there for a number of years. It's very tough at the moment. They are a high quality industrial manufacturer that is slowly being eaten. They will of course bounce back as will Japan. One of the things holding Germany back are their labour laws. I'm extremely cautious when expanding or hiring in the region. its so much easier to hire a German speaker based in the UK.

LOL So you pick diesel car makers. I would have thought all knew why there has been a serious drop in production of those.
Anyway - Germany has not gone into recession. Your post indicates that you know it was pointless posting it related to recession.

So no examples then.
main trade barriers that have increased costs and or damaged trade due to brexit:

rules or origin checks
sanitary and phytosanitary checks
tariffs
ATA carnets
restrictions on cabotage
transit documents
customs declarations
loss of FOM for UK workers in EU
loss of EU workers for UK

Notchy falls for the spin because he can't read beyond the headlines, which he ironically accuses others of not being able to do.
its not spin its just fact: support for brexit has been falling steadily since around 2018

and it will continue to fall because brexit is a failure

some reading for you
German Manufacturing was heavily dependant on its dominance in the diesel vehicle market and they were slow to switch. It was almost 20% of their economy until a few years ago.

Great if you have a job. But they are 2 points above us in unemployment - thats a million more people out of work. When you are over there all you hear is their press moaning about how sh*t it is like ours do.

One thing that is so much better in Germany is attitude to speed. High standard of driving on the Autobahn with people seeing nothing wrong with doing 100-120mph safely.
