That is essentially for building consumer units out of parts from different vendors. It has nothing to do with whether you must use an isolation switch.

The fan manufacturer recommended a fan isolator,,,a fan isolator is classed as switchgear,.....we work to manufacturers instructions.....so the above statement stands
