That is too much to hope for, does he have a job to fall back on.
when mogg retires from politics in a few weeks, he will be able to rant his bias without being reprimanded for breaking the broadcasters impartiality rules.

I hear he is a farage supporter now.

It's not too hard to impose those laws with things like utilities. Rule #1, no foreign owners.
That are sold on the stock exchange ?

The profits from water are regulated. They are based on capital value and debt. Also CPI or RPI. Some complicated info can be found on Ofwat's site. Not clear on what they actually do. Utilities are effectively monopolies so returns are expected to be low. Current state
Looks like(?)they did a rights issue - a way for raising money but more shares so can reduce value.
It seems Qatar bought a lot for it's reserves. Reserves need a solid investment.

So 4.75% for the investors. I they don't offer sufficient returns they will get sold. The outfits that own them want a solid return. I've seen this before with a UK company where a lot of the investors were pension funds. Net effect is that profits don't directly relate to dividends. If dividends fall the share price tends to fall until the returns reach a suitable level.

(?) Odd report but I did see a BBC link that mentioned it but can't find it again. It's another way of getting money avoiding debt but has complications.

All of the water companies accounts are on company house. Probably mention how much corp tax the gov get as well as current debt levels.

Can you imagine anybody running a water company like that?

Can you imagine a country letting its roads develop more craters than the moon?

Can you imagine a Home Secretary slashing Police numbers and denying it had anything to do with controlling crime?

Can you imagine a government with an aging population that needs increasing medical care starving the health service of funds?

Can you imagine anyone responsible for schools neglecting maintenance until their crumbling roofs started to collapse?

Can you imagine an organisation with a shortage of nurses cheering when they turned down a suggestion to let pay keep up with inflation?

They would fail, and deserve to be kicked out.

Can you imagine it?

Blimey

Could you imagine voting for some one who refuses to speak out about genocide ???

Could you even imagine your self encouraging others to vote for some one who refuses to speak out against genocide ?

We did have a much stronger unionised workforce to counterbalance unrestrained capitalism, that has been shredded since the 70s.

Apart from footballers.
Football is a good example of how clubs will exploit every opportunity to make money from fans.

Any fool can make up a bunch of criticisms like the Daily Wail.
That's cheap.
And no value to anyone.

What would you do about it, other than spending someone else's money?

Just change a few things, a little at a start.

Small steps .

Or carry on as we are

Any fool can boast of cutting costs by cutting the quality of services

Theresa May cut police numbers and claimed it would have no effect on crime.

What has been the effect of cutting spending on mending potholes?

What has been the effect of cutting NHS capital spending?

What has been the effect of neglecting repair of school roofs?

Yes,
We know, even if some are arguable -
what's the point of repeating it?
Trolling gland itchy?

And we all groan and moan, either way.

I'd love to see someone set out what's working ok ish, and what's not.
Tweak the ish, change the not.
Look to other countries, see what they do..
Oz has some better schemes than ours, as does scandawegia.

I've heard some decent ideas from random politicians.

We need to look at some big wrong things with a get-it-sorted attitude.
Foreign ownership of utilities, and how the profits are controlled.
Taxation of multinationals selling here
Too many not working who could, if things were adjusted. (EG integrate schools open early for breakfasts and taking in kids so parents can go on to work. Invoke homework clubs so the kids do it, and parents can collect.)
Care system Increase min wage for care workers and bring in a wealth tax on those (eg pensioners) with nn millions to pay for less well off. stop giving tax relief on isas over some limit, 100k maybe.
Immigration - sorry 500,000 pa is more than we can cope with so use a points system and quotas and restrict "rest of family" passes.

Promote local areas to be productive - eg Sheffield which is a shell of what it was. They're a proud lot. Support them to get themselves working and let them get on with it. Devolve so they can be responsible. Ditto several other areas.

Poor - starving(?) Shower them with meal plans supported by supermarkets with prices. Also budgeting plans. Teach budgeting and finance in schools.

Property shortage - I'm all ears.

Green agenda - match don't beat the ROW, but make eqpt to sell. (difficult)

What produces wealth - encourage relevant degrees by adjusting fees. Start companies eg like the French have done with AI. The very best people can be 100x more productive than the quite good. Encourage them to stay here.

Make some of the best stuff. Netherlands makes the best chip-making machines. We could do that. Germany makes much of the best hospital tech. We could do that. Why do we have foreign companies selling us wind turbines. We could do (more of) that. Rolls Royce is making modular nuclear reactors but we're letting Italians get in first. Government is holding RR back, Stupid.

We are just about holding on to being the #1 stock exchange in Europe. Make it better or Netherlands, Germany, France will catch up. Use our financial/technical expertise to make profits from world markets. That's Trillions of $ traded a day - take a cut.

And that....

Your response illustrates your political leanings. Common problem when things go wrong.

On austerity some pundits reckon too fast and too hard. All they need do is mention interest payments and people think ok. What they don't do is put them into perspective,

A) only according to you. You probably got it wrong
and
B) so ***king what?

I sit on the fence with both feet on the ground. Sometimes it affects my voice.

Your response meanwhile, demonstrates that you still can't string 2 coherent thoughts together. We get a fuzzball of unexplained half sentences, always.
The profits from water are regulated.
Including the "dividends" that find their way abroad?

If an MP who is an aide to the Prime Minister, uses inside information to place a bet in the hope of making a quick cash gain, shouldn't that be a criminal act?

It would be as bad as investing in a company about to receive a big government benefit, such as a childcare agency just before a subsidy was announced, or a PPE order that didn't go through normal channels.

No good just banning him from the House, if he's about to lose his seat anyway.
