Despite the impression he tries to give, to win votes in the forthcoming election, taxes are high and are going higher.

The bits he is giving away are planned to be funded by another round of Tory austerity, cutting public services by letting inflation erode the real value of their budgets.

FT calls this a "poison pill" as he does not expect the Con government to stay in power long enough to have to deal with the problems he is creating.

How many times does it have to be repeated - when you cannot grow the economy then how do you absorb inflation - this can be inflation imported from abroad from imports or it can be internal inflation due to costs rising or demand rising - prime example low house building and increasing demand for homes.

Solve growth.

Does anyone think Tory austerity solved the last financial crisis?

Paul caused the crisis but Peter must pay. But how do we get the public to buy in? The poor just blame the poor and lazy workers.

It's work houses for the masses and they will gladly accept their fate.

Plus mass immigration to keep wages down. Oh we've got two cheeks of the same ar*e who encompass that model.

Quite a lot of Tory supporters know nothing of Keynes or das Wirtschaftswunder.

Recessions are not cured by austerity.

To be fair; that was only accomplished after the British and American air forces had demolished the industrial infrastructure, then the Russians had rolled over the rest with their armoured divisions.
Japan had a similar economic recovery, so i suppose the moral is, flatten everything and rebuild using modern materials.

Much of Eastern Europe was also destroyed. But did not have a miraculous recovery. Until after 1990.

1930's US and UK did not suffer a war.

So destruction is not the solution.

What crisis?

You have only yourself to blame for your ignorance.

Anyone who had, for example, a pension fund that dropped in value by 40%, or an employer or customer that became insolvent, would have noticed.

And what should the government have done about it - followed your investment strategy where you made 40%?
