Trump reconsiders Second Amendment

Interesting opinion piece in the JP yesterday about how history has turned such that Jews have far more to fear from the hard left than the far right. In France jews are leaving in rising numbers for fear of the hard left achieving pole position. In the UK Labour lost 4 seats to Islamist terror supporters and in the US there's just been an assassination attempt on the right wing presidential candidate.

It appears the Left are going beyond rhetoric.
And the far-right now support Jewish interests against the rise of Moslem fundamentalism while ignoring the blatant bias from their own Christian bible-bashing rabble rousers.

Strange days, indeed.

It's amusing to hear the FBI say they're 'looking for a motive behind the attempt'.
It's Donald ****ing Trump, what more motive does anyone need?
Whatever the motive, rational or otherwise, the nutters will turn it into a conspiracy theory. Parents of the sandihoock massacre are still challenged on the streets for lying about the incident.

US there's just been an assassination attempt on the right wing presidential candidate.
The last one was Regan. More serious but survived. You could relate Mrs T closely to him.

Also very interesting how and why there is so much division.

I wouldn't say everything is left based, far from it.

Almost every part of this is wrong.

Money making idea. Dig a pit, not all that deep and provide people with guns to blast around with. Any serious shooter even those that use these guns even in a military style manner on targets in a correctly set up range wont be happy about a place like the above, Reason - problems rub off on all shooters.

There is a pending law change on use of these guns.

The far right support Israel because it is doing to Arabs /Muslims what they would like to do to Arabs/muslims themselves.

Israel has has now reinvented itself as the savior of Western civilisation, Boris Johnson is on record as saying that if Israel doesn't prevail in its struggle against the Palestinians then our civilisation will collapse.

This is the same type of lie used by the Americans to justify the killing millions of Vietnamese civilians.

As long as you ignore Hamas. You remember them? Religious states, anti socialist, hate LGBT etc.

Also it looks like the Trump shooter was a Republican.

He could be taking it much further than that...

Project 2025 is the conservative movement’s detailed and specific plan for what the next Republican president should do with his power, including its preparation to put that plan into action. Basically, it’s an attempt to make the second Trump term way more organized and effective than the first. Organized by the right-wing think tank the Heritage Foundation and advised by more than 100 conservative groups, Project 2025 has put forth a 922-page list of policy recommendations, going agency by agency in the federal government.

1) Concentrating power in the presidency: The idea here is to give Trump and his appointees more power over the executive branch relative to permanent nonpartisan civil service professionals (who he disparages as the so-called “deep state”).

2) Achieving longtime conservative priorities: This is stuff like slashing regulations, reducing federal spending on the poor, ditching efforts to fight climate change, ramping up military spending, and so on.

3) Taking a hardline religious-right agenda: The project lays out quite aggressive proposals to use federal power to prevent abortions and restrict certain contraceptive coverage. It even says that pornography should be “outlawed” and its creators and distributors should be “imprisoned.”

Project 2025 is not new: The Heritage Foundation has been releasing extremely long (and extreme) plans for what the next conservative president should do since 1980.

You can read more about it @Vox.com where it goes into more detail regarding the Heritage Foundation and their plan to evangelise the US according to 'God's Law', making the Presidency a more powerful office for the incumbent and, perhaps, abolishing the two-term limit in favour of a life-term residency. Of course, this won't be so long in Trump's case...and if the shooter had waited til he turned his head to face the crowd history would be very different today.

What does all this have to do with the UK? Well, the 'Popular Conservative' movement, advocated by Lizz 'Lettuce' Truss is a convert to that faith and will seek to make her brand of Conservatism mainstream, given the chance. It can't happen here, obviously...but it was said Farage would never get into Parliament either.

Be a lert.

Bannon has an interest in moving European religion more towards what the US has, He mentions fighting back. Hows it going - pass but he bought somewhere suitable to train what he referred to as Archangels in Italy. As far as I know the Italians have said not here but.............. pass.

Effectively weaponising religion.

Trump's ear. Biden makes the sort of speech we would expect. No room for this sort of thing in politics. Trump's end - it's purely the fault of the democrats. A purely political statement.

We have had some - ERG people getting senior positions in the civil service. Similar for the chancellor - you can have the job if you ditch your advisors. No doubt they had replacements in mind.

Related. Unusual for a diplomat to talk but one of our US ones was interviewed. He mentioned that Tory visits to the US related to talks with right wing think tanks and also ignoring Biden's lot even though they would clearly be in power at some point.

Then of course the Cameron announcement. Those that fall out of the bottom of the net are not our problem. Charities used to look after them. Explosion of food banks that in some cases slowly get more organised and bigger. Then this happens
Inflation of this type will always fall, Prices are a different subject. Labour will probably do the same as the Tory did as it appears to get to the right people. How much and can we afford it? Can it be improved?

Don't get me started on the religious aspect around this. God saved Trump but simultaneously didn't save Corey Comperatore? Funny kind of god that if you ask me.

No doubt humankind would find other reasons to fight each other, however I reckon religion should have no part whatsoever in mainstream education or politics.

I hadn't heard of Bannon spreading his brand of insanity in Italy but i found a link @The Art Newspaper from 2021, saying plans were afoot to evict his representative, Benjamin Harnwell, a British Catholic conservative, from the 13th-century Italian monastery where he planned to launch a right-wing political academy with Donald Trump’s former chief strategist, Steve Bannon. The ministry is now enlisting a coalition of community groups to open the Certosa di Trisulti to the public and determine what purpose it should serve. But Harnwell, who says he is the victim of a miscarriage of justice, has filed a final appeal on the case with the Corte di Cassazione, the Italian Supreme Court.

Another link wanted me to register so i wasn't able to find out if his appeal had been successful two years later but the Italians are very sensitive about their cultural heritage and real touchy when it comes to religious buildings, so hopefully they managed to winkle him out of there. I can only presume he'll haul ass to somewhere else, preferably less venerable than a monastery built in 1204. As long as Moslem fundamentalists threaten Europe and America with their mad brand of Islam, the reaction will continue to spread from Far-right Christian groups. Another reason, if we needed one, to hope Trump doesn't end up in the White House by Christmas.
