Turning freezers off at selected times of day to save money, thoughts please.

One is BBQ season only, or should be, in the flat under the house, and has been populated by my daughter when she came to stay, so should only be 3.

The chest freezer was intended for use when we get cakes, local shop sells surplus from factory which makes cakes for the trade, they are too big in the boxes for upright freezer, and also for Christmas, so the intention was only to run two.

Then Colvid came, and we started using it for general food delivered by daughter, she would bring us food once a month, and it has never been emptied since.

Idea is - a freezer should save you money and increase convenience, not cost you more..
That was the old idea, but Colvid changed that, it allowed us to maintain a shock of food so we don't need to go out, however our problem is centralised shops, local shops have closed over the years, so down to local garage now, so to shop means at least a 16 mile round trip, and the next town in other direction is a 25 mile round trip. More if we have bad weather, I have been stuck in the house for a week, and a road closure resulted for a time 25 miles to any town.

So the idea is that we can survive for at least a month without leaving the house. The only regular food is the milk delivery every other day.

You will be wasting more money on wastage as most products only last a few months in a freezer , cannot see you are going to use the contents of 4 freezers in a few months for family of 4 .

Why not wait until all the food will fit into three then remove the fuse from the plug of number four. “Discover” it just in time, declare it faulty, move all the food out and get rid of it
