I've asked this on CC. I'm looking ar fitting a filtered water system in my house. Fitted plenty but don't know are they really worth it.

Filtered against tap: good and bad from. What I read.

For the environment: yes

Evian and Pellegrino bottled have lots of nutrients that filtered water won't give.

But taste is good and cheaper with a filtered tap.

What do you know. ?

Tap water varies - in terms of taste, at least - hugely, across the country.

UK tap water is among the safest and cleanest in the world, iirc although, given the state of the water companies nowadays, I wouldn't bet on that continuing.

So I read up that tap is a mix of good and bad.

Filtered strips it all not just the good.

But if it tastes good and we as a family drink more... the more neu hydrated the healthier???
the benefits out way the negatives ,????? But then need to look into what nutrients we are losing.

I can't believe that there'd be any trace minerals in water that you'd not get from food which (if fresh and unprocessed) you already eat plenty of.

That's food for thought. I eat healthy but not so much my girls.

It's something I'll look into.

Only reason to filter is to remove some taste you object to?

Away 4 nights last week in Corton, N.Suffolk and the tap water was a bit Chlorine-y. Soon got used to it though.

SWMBO won't tolerate the softened water we have from the tap either raw or in tea; so we refill bottles for that purpose from before the softener input.

Mineral water is usually an expensive option.

AFAIK, you shouldn't be drinking softened water anyway.
Too high a sodium concentration?

Scrap that; just googled it.
Not enough sodium to make a difference.

Just taste preference then (y)

The best water I've ever drunk was from a Grohe blue filtration system. My water in Essex isn't all that bad either but tap water still picks up crap after filtration.

I like a bit of sparkling to sip at while watching Netflix and can't afford to keep buying quality bottled stuff that has all the heslth benefits.

hey Bod I hope you arent putting tap water in your coffee machine -it should be bottled or filtered

reason = limescale, it ruins coffee machines

It doesn't have any health benefits.
Evian
It contains bicarbonate, which helps control the water balance, and alkalinizes the body. It is rich in calcium, which is essential for our bones. Full of magnesium, each bottle aids in the working of muscles and the nervous system. It contains sulfate, which helps with blood clotting.
