Well played Miss Raducanu

Ah well, there's always Paris.

In the end, she skipped trying to qualify for Paris in order to concentrate on grass court preparation. She seems to be going pretty nicely at Nottingham this week.

A final against Ons Jabeur would be a great test. Before that, we could have an all British semi against current UK number one, Katie Boulter, who is already through. I'll have egg on my face if ER crashes out this evening in the quarters!

It looks like rain will continue right through this month and cross your fingers for Wimbledon when it starts. She's the only real prospect of any British interest after week one but she'll have to overcome her weakness on grass against top players this time. I think she's got a lot to prove that the US Open wasn't a fluke.

It looks like it must be raining in Nottingham right now! Because she's due on court but it keeps getting pushed back. Definitely a lot to prove. I actually think grass will suit her game. She looks fit and strong. My main worry is about her attitude. Twice this year she has simply capitulated and on one of those occasions she came up with the most ridiculous excuses.

EDIT: Definitely raining

Well, ER was due to play two matches today. The rain has been causing havoc. But it looks like her QF opponent was a friend who has been a jolly good sport and withdrawn. So, (eventually) we will see her play Katie Boulter in the SF. I'm really looking forward to that.

She's playing at Eastbourne, live on iPlayer, against a top ten player.

There's been periods where she has played beautiful, aggressive tennis and looked pretty amazing. But then she has had bad periods as well. I can certainly see how she won the US Open. Basically, she somehow kept her tennis at that high level throughout the entire tournament. Just needs to get back to that consistency.

Wimbledon first round tomorrow afternoon. She is playing the world number 22, who I have just been reading is a powerful but quite limited and not very smart player. It should be an interesting contrast. Some of the stuff ER was doing at Eastbourne was pretty sensational and made her look like a top five player. I would love for her to be able to keep that up consistently for the next two weeks.

Lovely player but can’t see how she can consistently reproduce anything like her old form with the injuries she’s carrying.

She's obviously been shopping to stock up on munchies for the England game on Saturday...her first round match against the Russian will give her plenty of time to watch the football when it's done.

She certainly knows how to play to the gallery!

But she's just won the first set 6-1 and is looking pretty juicy.

Well that was pretty awesome. She pretty much battered a very good and extremely experienced opponent. She hits the ball so beautifully and takes control of points so easily, and plays with such grace. In this form, it is an utter joy to watch her. But can she keep it up?
