What are you watching on TV right now?

I like watching the car restoration/repair programs when they are on when I'm cooking etc, especially the bits where the part isn't made anymore so they go to the one guy in the country that can make it, or the guys that are stiching upholstery by hand etc

Certain programmes are good for this, eg. Car SOS. Whatever they need for the restoration there always seems to be some artisan beavering away in an industrial unit on a non descript trading estate somewhere. Last programme on Car SOS they found someone who makes Spirit Of Ecstasy grill ornaments true to the original of the one they needed for the 1920s Roller they were restoring. In the past there was someone who makes hubcaps from original pressings for many British cars and another person in a large shed making the wooden sides for Minor Travellers. Fascinating stuff!

I'm watching an article on the news about 4 lions that were born in captivity and spent their life in a cage in a touring French circus. It's taken 4 years because of the pandemic but thanks to the 'Born Free" foundation, they've just been released into their own large enclosure in South Africa. Heartwarming. :)

Watching West Ham v Newcastle. Cat-kicking Zouma is still getting booed with every touch of the ball.

Kes on Talking Pictures, a Ken Loach film. I met Brian Glover, a very bright and clever man, despite the parts he usually played. He was going out with at the time, staff member at the shop I made deliveries for on a bike, for a grocery store as a youth..

The marvellous Mrs Maisel on Prime. Okayish. More Mrs M's cup of tea than mine.

Watched some documentary this afternoon about an annual 1000 mile race across a frozen Alaska......on cycles with big fat knobbly tyres. They were losing fingers and bits of ear due to frostbite. Rode through the night some of 'em as well!

Nobody could play 'thick' quite like him. Always good value in any part he played, tv drama/comedy or Hollywood movie.
Didn't he have a go at pro-wrestling back in the days of Mick McManus and Kendo Nagasaki? A fine man; they don't make 'em like him anymore.

Yes, to the pro wrestling. He picked me up by the scruff of the neck :-)
