What have you been doing today?

Our regular one has just had a full refit so I expect prices to have risen again. I’ll find out in about an hours time. The MiL just wants a chip sandwich though so just one medium and one large cod and a regular portion of chips (more than enough for two) should do.

They sound like very big portions of chips.

Most people used to leave their bread and butter at Harry's. That's probably why they stopped including it. When we were young, mum used to send us around the tables who had finished, to ask if we could have theirs. Very embarrassing. And if we went to other places, she would take bread and butter in her handbag and pass it under the table.

£26.20 Waiting for my fish to be cooked. £11.50 large cod, £9.50 medium cod, £3.50 medium chips, .80 for a picked O, 90 for a wally. Got given a complimentary small portion of chips to munch on while I’m waiting.

£27 for H &C, scampi & C, cup of tea and one coffee, in Whitby, in one of the less expensive places. Food was OK, tea and coffee hopeless and expensive.

Hopefully it’s not what you fear.

Had a call from hospital today. The shadows aren't cancer. That was a very worrying few days. Admit I went out to pub last night and got drunk - something I rarely do. I hadn't been too worried about all this until a letter arrived beginning of week titled 'suspected lung malignancy' - which scared the bejesus out of me.

Got appointment for 3rd May with lung specialist to see what it actually is. Hoping it's just bacterial or viral - a leftover of the Covid I had beginning of year and the recent, lingering chest infection I've had recently. Just hoping not too serious. Glad to get this week over.

Been on to the phone to Bennett’s bike insurance today. My old insurance company wanted over £400 to insure my bike this year (just over £100 last year) - no claims or speeding points etc and changing from business use and riding other bikes to just that bike and SD&P only. I photographed and emailed proof of NCD. Had a letter saying they couldn’t read it so sent it again, got another letter saying the same. Photo was clear but when I checked the emails, it was indeed blurry so I scanned them, sent them off again this week as well as posting a hard copy. Today I get another letter - my email not readable! Phoned them up and spoke to a young Asian girl. She said she could tell I was getting frustrated so against company policy, she gave me her personal email and I forwarded the scanned email to her. She waited until she reviewed it and said she would get on to the relevant person and give me a courtesy call back. She did this within 10 minutes and told me it was all sorted and asked me to destroy her email address as she wasn’t supposed to give it out. I thanked her profusely and said what a cracking employee she was. What service! Why can’t all companies give this sort of service - it was sorted in no time at all?
