What have you bought today?

Got some 18m x 40mm push fit, to try to improve the French drain, around my workshop and garage, following the recent monsoons. Idea is to dig out the old gravel, wash the mud out of the gravel, drop the push-fit in, surrounded by clean gravel, then put old plastic guttering overall. The push-fit, then leads the water slightly down hill, away from my workshop and garage. I made lots of holes in the push-fit, to allow the water to get in.

Some tic/flea/lungworm tablets for my dawg. Prescription only, online - £25 plus £20 for the prescription and one repeat allowed. Basically two packs of three tablets. Total cost will be £70 for 6 months treatment compared to £126 from my vet.

Sorry I ever doubted you. ;)

Coming along nicely, lot of hard work though. Can see why fitters charge the money. Would drive me nuts doing that day in, day out. Soon be over, and that's it for another 25 years.

Same when I recently had my bathroom replaced: all joy and optimism, quickly replaced by the depressing reality of a fortnight of pirate showering............

Still, "Always darkest before the dawn", and all that (y)

Easy peelers are really bad at the moment, as they are transitioning from the last ones of the northern hemisphere season to the first ones from the southern hemisphere. Out of desperation I tried some tangerines from Morrisons, and the variety is Ortaniques. I've never had them before. Extremely hard to peel, but amazing flavour and so much juice.

Origin: A Tangor is a cross or hybrid of a tangerine and an orange. The Ortanique is a natural hybrid discovered in Jamaica and first produced in 1920.

The Ortanique is a late-season tangor mandarin which tends to appear on our shelves when the main Clementine varieties are all but finished. It is a fabulous looking, conical-shaped fruit, with a thin but leathery rind with adheres rather tightly and is tough to peel. The skin is a lovely bright yellow-orange colour and is usually very clean and smooth. The flesh is very juicy with a distinctive and rich flavour due to its long hanging on the tree. The Ortanique is usually very sweet with a strong balance of acidity.

What did you go for in the end?
Well, I looked at the C4, C3, and the UT91.

The first 2 are OLED. The last, LED.

The C3 and 4 looked very good. The UT91 less so. It also looked washed out when viewing from the side.

Then I looked at a QNED model, which, to my tired, worn out eyes seemed just as good as the C3 and performed much better than the LED model when viewed from the side.

As for size, all the models I saw in the RS showroom were 55" and I could tell that they would be too big, so I chose a 50".

So, today I have bought an LG 50QNED816RE and an LG S75Q soundbar, for the grand sum of £774.

They bettered JL's price too.

It will be delivered tomorrow lunchtime.

Ordered some more bits for the kitchen. 4 x 2 gang screwless socket outlets and a three gang light switch all in brushed brass to match the cabinet handles and taps. An oak peg board thingy that goes in the plate drawer to hold them all in place and a slide out double bin.
