What if Reform won? (Farage emergency announcement at 4pm)

'Free Britannia'
Maybe they were talking to the wrong US right wing think tank. Trump appears to have caused a rethink. He asks China to cut back steel production. They say no so he adds an import tariff. Production levels are a way of controlling world pricing used on oil etc. Sometimes various factors cause price changes even bad harvests. China - well their only interest like most is to grow their economy. They also have the supply chains needed for manufacture. An eg - yonks ago the UK imported loads of iron ore from Spain ;) not that many yonks ago really, A port in Spain intended to do nothing else. Compared with digging it up locally it's not competitive. Dyson is another example. He finished up importing so many components that he switched his manufacture to the east. The whole thing could be called globalism said to improve things for other poorer countries. It does but some over time go much further eg S Korea, starts with clothes and finishes with cars and all sorts.

Biden comes along and starts worrying about jobs so imposes a number of staged tariffs on Chinese goods. Globalism has cause several problems of late.
Some are staged in the hope that it will help US makers get into action. China clearly aim to produce a load of electric cars so stick 100% on them. Will it work? The older powers are sort of well aligned a bit of a club. Are they going to do the same but what about the rest of the world? It's a big place. Some have no interest in really aligning themselves with any specific group.

LOL Why the post. One of the arguments for joining the EU in the first place was protectionist actions by countries. Turns out globalism won. Now????? The bed has been made. Investment is driven by profit. In many ways it's the only driving force. Bigger the market the better it is.

Maybe a Tory/reform government would be a good thing in the long term.
Once they got their hands on power, it would be goodbye NHS, social care, the welfare system and massive deregulation of financial services, once the punters who voted for them realise what has happened and feel the effects they will never vote Tory again.

There would be nothing left. I suppose that is the Tory/Reform Ayn Rand wet dream. If you don't train your own workforce or pay them enough the only way to stop revolt is to take away their freedoms of organising themselves and protesting.

BBC had an academic on who looks at the populations level of trust in politics. Not a bad idea really as reality is likely to figure.
He points out that trust level drops due to aspects like the expenses scandal but recover after the event. He also relates it to something like factors concerning an MP coming out calling for them to resign. These can recover as well. There can be a number of reasons even party preferences where people always vote the same way. It will leave some that don't trust the lot that are in.

Tory at the moment. Truss not mentioned but will figure with some. A roofer I used a few weeks ago intended to retire, He can't now The academic did mention the brexit lot. It hasn't turned out as many expected, The remainers, well it's easy to realise how they feel. He didn't mention things they have done that some see as wrong - woke aspects for instance. Maybe only a few but all stack up.

The brexit lot. I have asked a few and in some cases they just voted for it with no real reason. Means they were wondering early on. Probably protest based in a number of cases.

So we have an election. We have the choice of voting for various levels of loose cannons as they don't expect to win. That's not the aim of their game. Or of course don't vote at all.

I'm not sure if it was this or another thread however I did mention be careful what you wish for. e.g. you could have a family with teenage/20s non working children and under Reform they're advised they need to take jobs at a local farm to help process fruit/veg for near minimum wage. It is mandatory they take the jobs or their benefit will be stopped. The requirement in this scenario partly arising through Reform's clamp down on immigration.

The family, certainly the kids, might not be keen to vote Reform again ...

The only problem and a big one with reform is they have no depth to their party. Couldn't remember a single face.
But in contrast the weseals in the tory or Labour Party I can recollect makes me want to vote less for them.
Just putting it out there. Be mindful whilst a political party can change policy. We have a constant underneath that runs our country. Just putting that out there when we wonder what we need to Improve to attain efficiency and make Britain a competitive player again.

"**** my luck; i can't even celebrate the demise of the Tories because something worse will replace them."

A hatchet piece in the Guardian this morning sheds more light on this 'unashamed man of the people'...

"He was a deeply unembarrassed racist" - Nigel Farage by those who've known him...

Heard him interviewed by nicky Campbell on R5L on Thursday.

Any caller who questioned him, you could hear him rolling his eyes, and feel the barely - concealed contempt in his voice.

He said that he'd welcome Smogg and Cruella into Reform.
Then he said that he was a man of his word, and didn't waver.
Then, he said that ex-Tories would not be welcomed with open arms into Reform.
All within a minute.

Bloke's a thin - skinned, populist grifter. A bullshoiter.

All this hoo haa over some new political party that some how is going to make a massive break through :giggle: And change the political land scape

Yeah right :giggle:

Had the same back in the day when Shirley Williams, David Owen and co formed there party

They had a great deal of support

Ultimately it

Never amounted to a bag of beans :giggle:

And proves how some people lap up what they want to hear, factual or not.

Forgetting history is never good

if enough people in a particular seat voted for some extreme party (?) that say came 2nd and did not win the seat

It would probably get more done for there area
Than voting for one of the main stream parties

Happened in Bradford a good while back ;)

And i believe it will happen this time.

Honestly who in their right mind on here is going to vote Tory or Labour?

Or reform or the lib dems. That only leaves one choice, apart from the nutter parties, and that is not vote. I wonder if farage gets anywhere near power if ellal will go away again. Hope he takes a couple of nut cases with him if he does.
