Where to start wallpapering

Lining paper is a different width to normal paper so even if you started them both at the same point, the chances of two seams lining up are pretty remote.

I told ya - you should have gone round the corner by a quarter of an inch, plumbed for the next strip and cut that into the corner. And use scissors if you can, not gardening shears!

So ill have to start tomorrow by cutting this thin strip into the corner..and thanks for the advice peeps..

Yes i did plumb cumming out of the corner with the next sheet,but cut into the corner,rookie mistake ill admit,now ive gotto make good the corners,might have to use caulk or something..

1400 is quite thick so overlapping would produce a noticeable bump.

Presumably you'll paint or wallpaper over it so caulk is fine. I didn't bother - I just painted and it came out well. But my corner cut was pretty good.

Yes stealth ive decieded to paint it all white,as i realise white really changes the room from a dingy hole it was previously,couple of coats of decent matt emulsion i soppose,i mean ,its paint,right,what can go wrong..

@Derekbirmingham I did the same. The previous owners had dark blue walls. It was depressing me. I scraped off layers of wallpaper, smoothed the walls as best as I could and hung lining paper over it. I painted it a brilliant white colour and the room is so much brighter, especially as it's north facing so gets no sun.

Painting wise, let the glue dry for at least a day (I left it a week) before painting. Have a watch of youtube videos on painting if you've not painted before. Get a paint scuttle and liner and angled wide brush for cutting in edges. Get a paint tray and decent roller. Good equipment makes life easier. I used stuff with plastic liners so I could just chuck them away without having to wash the scuttle and tray. Still had to wash brushes.

Update:
All liner wallpaper done and wallpaper joints filled with red devil filler off amazon and a plastic credit card..got a massive tub of brilliant white paint from b&q for £12.
Ill prob start painting next week,see what happens..

You’ll get away with most of your mistakes with lining paper, especially when it’s painted over. If it was me though, I’d have taken the opportunity to sink that socket and wiring into the wall.

Dammit,the 2 twin sockets never even crossed my mind,i was a sparky for 5 years as well,duh dammit i want to chop them in now,might get a disc cutter from work tomorrow an put fancy sockets in

Painting wise, I found the paint can make the dried glue wet and bubbles appear in the wallpaper. These all went after the paint had dried. I did two coats because I thought there were imperfections but when fully dried, the paint looked awesome.

First coat going in and i am getting a bit of bubbling

Ive given it 2 coats of brilliant white but ive got the odd lap up here and there ,is there a solution for this or should i just live with it as im not a pro decorator..
