Hi Chris,
Yes, Zone 1 (basement and main floor) works as normal (rads get toasty hot) even when the boiler says LoPr 0.6 for example
None of the old system was kept.
The Ideal Minimiser installed by British Gas in 1997 had a header tank in the loft but when that was replaced around 2010/2011 with the Vaillant Ecotec it was removed.
From then until the heat exchanger of the Ecotec failed in May 2020, everything worked fine.
From the installation of the new Worcester Bosch Greenstar in May 2020, everthing worked fine until March 2021 when the heating was turned off. The hot water continued to be produced and stored in the hot water tank in the airing cupboard. Everything appeared to be 'normal'. It was only me turning the heating on upstairs last week in preparation for wimter (it had been turned on on a couple of occasions recently downstairs - zone 1 - and worked fine) that I noticed that the bathroom radiators weren't heating up. I suspected they needed bleeding as this usually sorts a 'non-heating in the bathroom' issue out. Not this time however.
I still don't get that the boiler pressure can be at 1bar, the upstairs Zone 2 programmer and stat can be calling for heat yet the boiler totally ignores this and nothing happens.
A test a few days ago (Wednesday evening?) and the heating came on as expected and the radiators were toasty warm.
Nothing is making sense.
From 7:30 am this morning when boiler pressure was brought uo to 1.2 bar, it has fallen back at the time of writing 1:15pm Sunday, to 0.8 bar - so there is obviosly a leak SOMEWHERE - howver there is NO EVIDENCE of a leak ANYWHERE. Possibly the evidence will appear shortly *shrugs* who knows?
Dave
