Best TV Brand?

Stop press: further advice from AVForum is that a 55" TV is too small for the viewing distance of just under 3m.

The advice is to get a 77" TV minimum.

Ask for the opinion of those who j@ck off over the the tech specs, and you'll get advice like that.

Either that, or they're pulling the p!ssers of the newbie questionners.

IMHO.

That lower rumble or grumble adds atmosphere; it's not just there for the loud explosions, imho.
I also have a sub, but TBH, for normal volume listening, it's turned off.
I find there is more than enough oomph from the floorstanders.

...and I won't mention my TV is 'only' 32", and I'm more than happy with it! ;)

The old Bose trick of upping the mid-range of the subwoofer to compliment crap speakers to almost work, applies to sound bars equally. Some of the better models will have directional speakers to fire the sound, but it will never be as good as larger speakers situated around the audience.

Speakers don't need to be floor standers or on stands. You can get good effects with dipoles wall mounted out of sight.

That's one of the many, many things I hate about modern TV and films, all the boom-boom-boom.

Ready to choose a new telly now.

JL are doing Panasonic TX55 MX650B cheap.

Neighbour reckons an LG C3 is the way to go.

A big difference in price.

Mottie, you have a C3?

Are you still happy with it after its hiccups?
