D-Day

If you make it easier to process, and speed up the process the underlying problem would be smaller.

Small steps are the start .

If. IF you want to address the issue
Same old, same old. They don't like brown people coming here but reject all suggestions aimed at reducing illegal immigration.

The current system of pretending there are no applicants and a lack of processing isn't working.

Looks to me like a change of approach is needed, but the othjer choice is to carry on as we are and keep complaining that the numbers are increasing.

really so why dont they enter legally and claim asylum
If you made it easier to apply, the most genuine applicants would probably choose that option, meaning the others that continue to arrive by boat or other clandestine means would likely be the ones that need most attention. Direct the attention accordingly and you might make inroads into the problem.

Small steps

Can you suggest a legal route?
Why doesn't the UK open an office in France where these asylum seekers could go and fill out an asylum application form and wait for a reply from the UK government.
Wouldn't that be a legal route.

Process them, give them a work visa, train them up and get them working in areas we have shortages with their visa status tied to remaining in work and paying taxes.

Make them contribute from day one. Get Britain Building, we need so many homes and infrastructure investment.

It costs more to process and house them - lets start making use of them.

oh fek we have someone thinking they are all tradesmen and can build all the additional housing/schools/hospitals roads etc etc to UK standards

Its a Ponzi scheme, immigrants arrive to service the needs of the existing population, however who services the needs of the new immigrants, they don't live in bubble.
Immigrants also need homes, health care, food shops, transport ect.
So as the population expands that creates the demand for more immigrants to service the needs of the recently arrived immigrants.

If you made it easier to apply
How would you make it easier to apply for asylum? .
If the UK had offices beside the beach, it would make it easier and safer to apply for asylum rather than risk their lives in a boat across the channel.
Once they fill the asylum application form in they just have to wait for a decision.
I am assuming that the majority of these would be asylum seekers are not claiming that there lives are in danger in France.
