Fascinating a split vote so far. Id say without question yes. Why let anyone who takes a life live? I am surprised there aren't more cases of people 'waiting at the gates' for said person to be released from prison for them to end up under a car or worse moments later.

Some form of closure for the family/friends.

Doubt it would get through but it might be a surprise to many on how close the vote would be ??
 
Evidence from America is that families don't get closure and they regret it.

Essentially, yes. They build up this hope that the death penalty will give them closure, and it doesn't, they just feel empty and that makes it all worse as well as making them relive it all.

Well you can’t please every one ?? Perhaps getting them closure could involve inflicting pain on those who raped and killed there child ? Prior to there execution ? Plenty of parents ?? Would be up for it ??
 
Why stop at execution?
Bring back Human sacrifice, say I.

Because sometimes the wrong person is convicted.

Sometimes people are set up.

And the death penalty means a person who is likely to get it will likely take more lives trying to avoid being executed.

Leave no witnesses etc.
