Expanded ULEZ

If only we had a national system that charged vehicles accordingly. Perhaps an annual charge based on emissions and the another based on usage. Probable too hard to implement. Oh wait…

Just to check, are you under the impression that the car tax band incentivises the owner of a car to minimise pollution by driving fewer miles?

No that will be the second part of the post. Do you think the ULEZ charge is pay per mile?

I think you ought to look up what "strawman" means, before you attempt to accuses others of it.

Simply, I offered my opinion.
That's not a "strawman".
Thank you for your advice.

You appear to suggest pollution either doesn't exist in London (all of it) or is not worth addressing. I disagree.

If you don't like your comment being called out for being made of straw, then don't accuse others of it just for a differing opinion.

Khan brings in the heavies to enforce his tax.

He’s also running paid promotions on tiktok. Which is odd given it’s been banned by many government agencies due to security issues

And how do you think you are going to get those living abroad to pay the tax then. Magic?

So lets keep to reality then. If I drive the most polluting car in the world its Ok for me to drive in London if pay a tax then? If its about air quality all cars that don't meet the standard would be banned but there is no revenue in that.

You don't think a charge will stop some people driving in then ?

Do you have a better plan, or just happy to leave pollution as it is

Obviously not. If you allow polluting vehicles in it is not pollution control is it.

Firstly don't dress up a tax as a virtue signalling policy.

Then be realistic about what you are trying to achieve. Central London is not the same as the suburbs so create a scalable policy rather than a blanket tax that penalises the poorest. First world socialism at its worst. Remember his Range Rovers.

It's fine for you to have a differing opinion.

Where I'm calling you out is for knocking down things I have not said: the very definition of "strawman".

That's where you're going wrong.

But as I and others have posted before, comprehension is not a strength of yours.
That is where your argument fails, trying to make things personal. Once you resort to personal stuff it just weakens you. It is not a strength, or a better ability.

If you do not make yourself clear, that is a failure of yours, not mine.

I am wrong, just because you say so? You will have to do better than that. Just repeating something over and over again, does not make it right.

You have not yet commented on whether you think pollution should be addressed or not. You appear to be suggesting it is not worth addressing, in London (as a whole) in particular.

You haven't said, because you will not make a comment on whether pollution needs to be addressed or not. That is just avoidance.

But don't attack me for wanting pollution addressed.
