Expanded ULEZ

I believe that if you feel the authorities are not doing the right thing, you should complain most vociferously. It's no good just a few doing this, it needs to be done en masse.

The people are a good barometer of when the authorities push too far.

When rules, regulations and laws are introduced or changed, mostly the people understand the reasoning behind them and are accepting of them.

When the authorities push too far and a large number of people push back, the Government should take notice and look at what changes should be made to the proposals, not blindly push ahead regardless.

I'm not saying rioting is the way to go, but when Macron tried to raise the pension age, there was huge protest and eventually he backed down.

The Manchester congestion charging scheme has been under review since there was mass protest about its proposed introduction.

It is healthy in a democracy that authorities are aware when the people are not happy.

I wonder which cities that operate a clean air zone have a Labour council, and which are Tory?

I wonder which are in a country that has a Tory government?

"This was a reference to a letter in October 2020 from Grant Shapps, part of a trove of correspondence between the then transport secretary and Khan uncovered by a freedom of information request.

Amid exchanges between the pair about central government funding for Transport for London during Covid, Shapps urged Khan to maximise income from the low emission zone, a separate and longer-standing charge for heavily polluting commercial vehicles, and from the congestion charge, a levy on most vehicles in central London at busy times.

“Given the significant rise in congestion in inner London, we also propose the extension of the central London congestion charging zone to cover the same area as the ultra-low emission zone and at the same time, October 2021,” Shapps wrote."

A shoe-in then: Londoners have form in that regard (y)
Maybe, Rishy might call a snap election if she gets in. She ticks all the boxes for the hard right. But will be Stourbridge be bothered?

Blup

It's a fair question. Your view or opinion or 1 day occurrence is anecdotal

Whether anybody likes ulez or not, trying to claim London is not 1 of the most polluted parts of the UK is obviously wrong .
You've never visited other European capitals.

Pollution in London is so bad that people living here live longer than everyone else in the country.
Weird...
Nobody dies young ?

Nobody suffers from pollution.?

OK. You win. You want to live in pollution without any attempt to clean the environment, that's your choice. We should go back to the days of smog

Buffoon.

Life expectancy is very much linked to prosperity.

Some London boroughs are very prosperous.

Have you walked round Euston? I have.

As is often the case, you misunderstand.

I don't (expect better of you).
I must have misunderstood when you claimed London wasn't as polluted as other places. And was Not 1 of the most polluted places in the UK.

Disagreeing, is not the same as misunderstanding.

Anybody claiming a centre of population is not more polluted needs to be able to explain themselves better.

ULEZ is not designed to reduce pollution and it doesn't reduce pollution.
It's just a money making scam.
