General Election 4th July

They'd rather not focus on the fact the Tories are so far behind in the polls it's embarrassing.

Sunak stands by his claim Labour will increase tax by £2,000
This is what the Tory NF UKIP populist front do: never back down, never apologise, double down on lies

It is why they are about to get kicked out

Does Rishi Sunak really want to win the election.
The D day commemorations are very important to Europeans, Sunak isn't of European origin, so he could be excused for his ignorance but why didn't his advisors warn him that leaving early would be a big mistake.

Isra-hell won't be happy..
Starmer adopted that stance not long after the war started. He mentioned international pressure to achieve 2 states. They call for a ceasefire as well.

Things move on. The UK now calls for a ceasefire and an end to the war now. Perhaps this will bring back some Labour politicians who resigned from the party over this area. However this change hasn't really attracted much comment from news sources.

The resigners - suppose they feel statements should be made even if they wont achieve anything. Why they were not made - geopolitics probably figure in that.

He wants to be in Sunny California that;s why he called a summer election. He became PM to tick it off his bucket list - the country were a means to an end - it has always been about no1.

The Tory horn smokers would still vote for him even after this because for them it has always been party over country - it's a cult.

So if Labour do actually end up the biggest party, what is the minimum majority they might need in order to deal with the rump Corbynites and other awkward squad?

Most of them are members of the Socialist Campaign Group, which used to have 23 members but not sure how many there are now which are MPs, less than a dozen I believe

I suppose a political party needs a majority of twice the number of their renegade group.

The Libs have released their manifesto. £29b mentioned - I think. Maybe C4 will give a better run down tonight.

Over 4 years. £9b for NHS related. Extra taxation from banks, google, amazon, capital gains and loop holes. The 9 represents ~5% increase. A pundit group comment - taxation increase costs usually get passed on to customers. Maybe they are anti tax but they do have a point.

Some NHS budgeting is already planned but in the GP area they are not at all happy about what type of person they can employ - not more GP's.

The Institute for Fiscal Studies has issued a short analysis of the proposals in the Liberal Democrats’ manifesto. It says the proposals amount to “meaningful change to current plans”. But it is sceptical about whether the Lib Dems would really be able to raise the £27bn they say they could.

They're proposing a package of tax rises that they claim will raise £27 billion in 2028-29. These may look politically attractive: a large sum raised without directly raising taxes on ‘ordinary people’. But taxes on banks, for example, would need to be raised to new highs – much higher than under the Conservatives – to achieve the planned revenue, and would ultimately be felt at least in part by their customers.

They really are a hapless bunch. What's the point?
