Harder to own your first home under the Tories

All we have, is an elderly, luverly, Taiwanese couple, who used to have a corner shop at the end of the street, with a flat over. They recently refurbed the place, doing away with the shop, plus a Turkish barber which recently opened in the main street. Other than that, we have the scrap collectors, living a few miles away somewhere, constantly prowling the streets for scrap, in their uninsured, untaxed trucks.

Yes, some are perfectly acceptable. The Spanish couple and child next to me are relatively recent arrivals who speak little English. They're hard working - they work nights in a Lidl distribution centre. How they afford the rent for a 3 bed detached which costs £18,000 to rent plus £2,500 for rates is anyone's guess. They're very quiet and they take pride in the garden. Which is all very well, but inviting those from all corners of the world is making it impossible for younger people to rent, let alone buy.

I'm parroting nowt thanks ;)

Over centuries Britain thought nothing of taking over countries and instilling its societal values.

Maybe Britain itself is now gradually being taken over? I'm not imparting any view on whether this would be right or wrong, I'm simply making the assertion maybe that's what's happening. And if it is, I'm sure many people around the world might be thinking 'karma.'

You certainly are parroting the tired old lefty drivel. It's there in black and white. As if we were the only country that had an Empire. You also conveniently ignore the benefits that countries in our empire gained.

I hope you will try to correct the sins of your forefathers by opening up your home to the world's disposessed.

Why the lefties? Its the right that's been in government since ..... .

Right in name only. Those on the right are small government, low tax, tough on crime, tough on immigration. You are confusing being Tory with being a Conservative. They parted company a while back.

Same mistake as thinking multi-millionnaire, New Labour Tony Blair is a left wing socialist. The Labour party was just a willing, compliant vehicle for his personal aspirations. Same with this Tory lot.

You are completely missing my point. It's irrelevant if we are/aren't the only country that had an empire. And some (not all) of the benefits will be questioned by the indigenous people.

I'm not getting into this with you cause it'll go round and round and we'll never agree. Suffice to say if we are 'being taken over' it's nothing more than Britain did in years gone by. The objectives at the time are irrelevant to my salient point.

Certainly not the left then is it

Yep, we dragged many backward counties into the 19th and 20th century, gave them railways, motor vehicles etc..

Her instincts were right. At least she didn't ever open the floodgates and let the rest of the world in.
Short memory...she signed the single market act knowing full well that this included the free movement of labour within that market.. she actually was the cause of free movement....

A COUPLE are setting aside money so that they can take their parents to a local restaurant and beg for a house deposit.

Tom Booker and Emma Bradford made the decision to start saving £100 after realising they were never going to be able to buy a house without their parents doing it for them.

Booker said: “As we’re first-time deposit blaggers we have to be realistic, we’re thinking of a Pizza Express or local Indian, nowhere too fancy but proper enough that they feel buttered up.

“We should have the money saved up in a couple of months if we lay off the cocaine.”

He added: “Dad will say I should have thought about this sooner, but it was impossible to save in our 20s, what with London rent and entry-level salaries and all the travelling we did.

“Our time in New Zealand, California and the Galapagos Islands wasn’t cheap, but it was life experience, and you can’t put a price on that. You can put a price on a house though.”

Bradford said: “It’s not like we’re expecting money to fall into our laps. We’re talking starters, puddings, the works.

“Although they did offer to have us round for lunch one Sunday though, maybe we should do that instead because it’s free.”

No short memory at all. I was referring to the rest of the world, not specifically EU. EU migration was mostly people of similar culture to ours who were here to work and were easily assimilated. What we're getting now is the dregs from further afield with dubious motives, often entering UK facilitated by criminality and a drain on taxpayers having to fund housing, etc, etc, . They're a massive liability, and a large percentage have no interest in assimilating, but want to re-create the third world situation here that they claim to be fleeing from.

If your memory needs any help, it was Blair, not Thatcher, who opened the floodgates to a large scale influx of undesirables.

And are they grateful? ;)

Seriously though, does anyone imagine India would now have a space programme if UK hadn't modernised the country and lent them our technical knowhow. No credit given for this though.

So we are right, they are wrong.

I'm not part of the bleeding heart, white man bad chocolate man good, lets make reparations preposterous bs wokery industry, so I don't actually care.

Though I will say the ones who have left the non-caucasian world to come and take advantage of the nasty white man's civilisation - don't seem to be in any hurry to return.:idea::idea: Quite the opposite.
