Horstmann 425 tiara timer not moving/working.

I notice that the CH use in insolation does not ignited the boiler. We realise that to turn on the CH we have to turn on the HW too. Is that common?

Thinking back before we change to C27, when we turn the CH switch on, the HW switch triggers on as well.
 
Yes, you have a basic gravity hot water system so can't really have heating on by itself.

On the back of the c27 programmer unit there should be a wire jumper (blue?) which needs to be disconnected. Then the unit will behave the same way as the old one and fire up the boiler properly when you want heating on.

The times you set for Heating will then really be Heating with Hot Water.
Any additional times you might need Hot Water can be programmed seperately in the Hot Water timer.

If you're not sure what to do, post a picture of the back of the programmer (NOT the backplate).
