It's a New Dawn

Afaik there has certainly been a case of a
Former PM coming back into government

This Cameron caper is not the first time ???
At least DC came back from a retirement, not from a previous sacking.
SuellaB and BorisJ came back from a previous sacking. There may have been others.

Sir Alec Douglas Home was PM in 1963-64 and came back into the HoC as FM in Heath's 1970-74 administration.

He didn't make his comeback from a sacking, (not including the loss of an elections as a 'sacking')
He swapped back and for between being a Lord and being an MP. (He was a hereditary peer).

For DC to do that, he'd have to win a representative seat for the Tories, and win the consitituency seat in an election.
But I think Life Peers cannot renounce their 'Life Peerrage'. Or if they do, they can't re-assume it at a later date, som'at like that.
