I agree that would be the response of many with the red mist descending, but the bloke was clearly out of it lying on the floor, and the copper took the opportunity for a bit of after the event revenge. A kick that hard to the head could have caused really serious injury or death. So two sets of prosecutions are called for, pending the full story.

Rumour has it, he was sacked rather than quit and its safe to say the clients are better off without him.
He and his firm are under investigation and they already have sanctions against them. He really should be keeping a lower profile, if he wants to continue to practice..

The two solicitors referred to in the link provided by motorbiking refer to offences in 2013, and before.
But Maurice Andrews started in 2017.
Neither of the previously mentioned solicitors work there. In fact only two solicitors work there.
And there are no outstanding disciplinary issues

I don't think survival instincts comes into it at this point because there was no threat at that moment. But probably discharging the tazer again would, if I felt it necessary, be my next course of action.
But what I do know is that that copper was retaliating while the lad was on the floor.
