I remember when Cardiff played QPR back in the seventies and Stan Bowles wife had just left him, it was in the papers saying that he didn't know where she'd gone. The Cardiff fans were singing to Stan "Stanley, Stanley where's your wife?" and Stan turned and faced them, shrugged his shoulders and said "I don't f*cking know", crowd all laughed and gave him a big cheer. RIP Stan, a great character.

I was watching him last Saturday night in series 12 of curb your enthusiasm. Mrs Mottie told me he had died. I didn’t believe her so looked it up and of course, he was very much alive, then. Spooky!
